MEDecision Showcases Open Exchange of Clinical Information as HiMSS10 Begins

MEDecision, Inc., a leading provider of collaborative healthcare management solutions, today launched an active and multifaceted presence at the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HiMSS) 2010 Conference and Exhibition with an interactive booth display to demonstrate mutual access to actionable, real-time information from throughout the healthcare ecosystem.
“There is a lot of exciting and positive momentum at MEDecision right now, and our goal for HiMSS is to share that message with the rest of the industry,” said Scott A. Storrer, president and CEO at MEDecision. “We want to take full advantage of the opportunity the conference affords us to strengthen relationships and pursue new partnerships that will enable us to continue pushing the envelope in collaborative healthcare exchange innovation between payers, providers and patients.”

The company will showcase InFrame™, its new collaborative health information exchange (HIE) service that enables care delivery organizations to share clinical data — including diagnostic-quality medical images — among themselves and with patients to more effectively drive business and comply with meaningful use criteria. InFrame enables care delivery organizations to leverage HIE to enhance revenues, extend brand and better manage operational costs by exchanging clinical data in real time with referring physicians and patients themselves.

“InFrame will provide the infrastructure that will allow application vendors at the Interoperability Showcase to achieve true plug-and-play interoperability,” said Elliot Menschik, M.D., Ph.D., senior vice president of provider markets for MEDecision. “We are delighted to deliver the functionality that will enable some of the industry’s largest and best-known vendors to exchange data and are very pleased that they share our commitment to continuing innovation in this increasingly important arena.”

Other highlights at HiMSS10 include:

• The focal point of MEDecision’s activity is a social gathering the company is hosting tonight from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Georgia Aquarium. Open to all HiMSS attendees, the free event is the largest of its kind at the conference and includes full access to the Aquarium’s extensive exhibits and attractions, a performance by 2010 Grammy Award winner Colbie Caillat, open bar and complimentary refreshments.

• Reinforcing its commitment to improving relationships between patients, payers and providers, MEDecision will participate in demonstrations of health information exchange in the HiMSS Interoperability Showcase, which is held in booth #233, Hall C, from March 1–3. Menschik will present a session entitled “Real-World Applications of IHE XDS” at the Interoperability Showcase on Tuesday, March 2 at 12:15 p.m.

• Other MEDecision activities at HiMSS include sponsoring the sold-out Payer Symposium, which was held on Sunday and focused on the importance of increasing collaboration among all healthcare constituents; and the Payer Roundtable breakfast, which is being held tomorrow at 7:00 a.m. and is similarly themed. The company will also host complimentary cocktail receptions in its booth for all HiMSS attendees each day of the exhibit from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
